More BNAT 1138 photos uploaded

For some reason the first time I uploaded I didn't get all the photos. There are approx. 25 or so more now. Check it out!

by the way, the new ones are not all at the end. I had to delete the entire album, create a new one from scratch, and upload all the photos again to make sure there weren't any duplicates in there.

BNAT12 plans in the works!

There is some craziness happening on Twitter right now, and it looks like its due in part to [info]433's post and our comments. Apparently there was a meeting today:

"Lobby Lizards will lose their seats at BNAT12 - Standbys will inherit those seats.

Also - Sunday Night Dinner Get Together - will be officialized for BNAT 12 - and we'll be taking some place over - too early for details

It also looks like we're eliminating Folding Chairs, even though it would mean less people getting in.

but keep your fingers crossed - we're looking at adding possibly 18 real seats for #BNAT12 - to be decided in September.

We'll work out something for smokers, lactating mothers & medical situations

btw - if you hate alot of these harder line rules, blame 433 - it is his fault

Breaks will be allowed. Just no more skipping significant chunks of movies, while there are people that want to be watching

Basically, to exit past the bathrooms, you turn in your badge. once the break is up, any badge not picked up is given to a standby

if people want to take a break, they relinquish their seat to someone that wants to see films then sit in standby to get back in

Well the problem comes with BNAT vets that seem to think I spend all year working on the program for them to be Lobby Lizards"

----

It sounds pretty strict, and who knows how well it will work. But for the most part this is all fine by me. Anytime I've been in the lobby for more than a few minutes, it's never been a film that Harry programmed. In fact, I sat through most of Che. This year it was only during Centipede Horror and I thought it better to go out and socialize than try to sleep or expose myself to serious bug nightmares. I'm very proud of myself for not sleeping the entire time. But since the no sleeping thing and the no hanging out in the lobby hasn't been enforced, I wouldn't expect everyone to know that it's frowned upon. Even Harry was out in the lobby during Che last year.

I hope I get to experience the "torture" of BNAT12!

My BNAT 1138 Review part 1

This is my second BNAT and I gotta say the line up was better. Even though I am of the opinion that my first BNAT is my favourite.

Well I will just get on with it.

As usual with such things there was a late start. The question was asked who is a first timer. This brought a large cheer from the green backs. Then Harry got each foreign nationality to stand up except for me the man from Ireland :-(. Tim League then announced a new first timer from Bulgaria. The Bulgarian then proceeded to dance for Harry and also had a drink with Harry. Later at some stage there was a drink off between AICN and the Broken Lizard crowed.

Now to the films.

1. Faust is a real marvel of Silent cinema. Any time I have watched most silent films on DVD or tv there is an awful soundtrack added to it. However for this BNAT experience there was accompaniment by a live organ. The film without the live accompaniment would have been great, but with it made it even better.

Remember kiddies Hell has the better musicians so do a bad deed every day and you might get in.

2. The Lovely Bones is a beautiful looking film about child death. With decent performances throughout. The film feels uneven despite its good points. It is one of those films that makes you think it is great while watching, but not so good the more you think about it. It is definitely worth going to see and definitely an improvement over King Kong.

Don't look at the light it will hurt your eyes.

3. Now to Girl Crazy. I think I was the only person who did not enjoy this film too much. It wasn't bad or unbearable, it just lacked a certain something. That something to get me going.

Short reviews never hurt anybody. Except the reviewer paid by the word.

BNAT9 Retrospective

Only a couple of years late, here's my BNAT9 Retrospective. Warning: I have only recently been able to find time to get back to doing stuff like this, so it turns out that I went WAY overboard on it in regards to time. Yeah, it's like seven minutes long. Whoops.

These look better in these smaller versions, unfortunately. I'm working on tweaking it for a larger size.

For new BNATters: these things are just sort of mental remembrances for the BNAT to me. The music I choose for them is generally done just as a reflection of a feeling it seems to match up with from the BNAT (which is one reason these take so long: my music library is pretty small and new stuff doesn't trickle in like it used to so it's hard to find one that really says "Hey, this is like BNAT9 in a lot of ways.").

There might be a few more coming later on.

I posted them on Myspace, so the size isn't the best. If anyone wants a larger version of any of these in jpeg format send me a message.

My BNAT 1138 Photologue

Another awesome experience this year. While many of the pix are not of BNAT, they are all part of the great time we had. Thanks to all of you that we met.

In which 433 complains

This was really the best-programmed BNAT ever. The only clunkers were the ones that were meant to be (the early-morning slots are generally the films designed to torture the audience. This year that honor went to Centipede Horror and Candy Snatchers), and the rest of the movies were all at least interesting.

However, I am getting really sick of the people that either sleep through multiple films, complain about the movies, or both. Now, I know that people have certain triggers (like bugs, or legs breaking, etc.), that's not what I'm talking about. But people who decide they just don't like certain movies and try to take a nap or head out to the lobby, that's what pisses me off.

People that break the rules of BNAT (most importantly, #1: no talking back to the films a la MST3K; and #2: treat celebrities like regular folks) can also just take a flying leap.

There are 7,000-12,000 people that apply to get in to BNAT every year, and I would much rather that any of them had your space. If you don't want to experience the entire BNAT, please just stay home.
